In a super bizarre new video, it looks like Ben Affleck’s star is on the decline again just after his major comeback as Batman, and his foray into directing movies. This week, Ben guest starred on the HBO sports talk show, Any Given Wednesday with Bill Simmons, where his slurred speech and heated rant caught EVERYONE’S attention!
Ben first started directing in 2007 with the film Gone Baby Gone, and it was the start of his comeback because at that time, “I was the lowest rung of cool and talented that you could possibly be in the public consciousness. I had broken up with Jennifer Lopez and I had three or four movies in a row that bombed.”
So he decided he would work REALLY hard: “I thought, ‘If I’m gonna fail, I’m not gonna fail for lack of hard work,’ and that became my mantra. I got sort of obsessed with [working hard], and my wife was really, really instrumental in me doing a lot of that work.” But wait…what wife is he talking about?
Oh yeah, the same Jennifer Garner from whom he is divorcing because of the scandal of Nannygate! But that wasn’t the only WEIRD thing about his guest spot on the show. As Bill Simmons turns the topic to Deflategate (Ah, we're beginning to see why they're friends...), Ben gets SO riled up.
It’s no wonder, since he is close friends with Tom Brady, and the two even vacationed together with their wives Gisele Bundchen and Jennifer Garner. For nearly FIVE MINUTES, Ben word vomits about how ridiculous Deflategate is and how Tom was in the right for destroying his phone rather than giving it to NFL authorities. He even came up with his own theory as to what was REALLY on Tom’s phone!
“I dunno, maybe it’s funny lovely sex messages from his wife, maybe it’s just friendly messages from his wife. Maybe Tom Brady is so f---ing classy and such a f---ing gentleman that he doesn’t want people to know that he may have reflected on his real opinion of some of his coworkers.”
As Ben yelled, “Deflategate is the ultimate bull---- f---ing outrage of sports, ever! It’s so f---ing stupid that I can’t believe it,” host Bill Simmons could barely get a word in! Instead, he was more like a good friend watching his wasted buddy ranting at a local bar…
Despite the theories that Ben has lost his mind or was intoxicated on the show, he did make one good point: “[They] haven’t done anything to address this crisis of domestic violence in the NFL, but the f---ing football better not be 8 percent lighter.”
