Season 7 of WeTV’s Marriage Boot Camp premieres on January 6, but there’s already plenty to talk about! The black sheep of the Duggar family, also known as cousin Amy, and her husband Dillon King are one of the couples we’ll see on the small screen.

Last month a trailer for the new season hit the Internet, and it promised an explosive season of fights, sordid secrets, and more. One part of the clip featured Amy standing in front of everyone describing a particularly scary incident!

“He picked me up by my throat, all the way up to the ceiling,” she recalls.

Of course, this show is all about relationships, and so fans naturally worried that the abuser Amy spoke of was actually her husband, Dillon!

But it actually wasn’t Dillon. The couple took to PEOPLE to address the situation and revealed how the teaser video has impacted their relationship. “We got hate mail and all kinds of stuff. It exploded,” Dillon said.

“It was crazy. People were like, ‘Amy run. Run away from him. Divorce him now. He’s going to abuse you, you don’t need that.’”

After the video came out, Amy took to Twitter to assure everyone that it wasn’t her husband she was speaking of.

And now Amy is revealing a little bit more about the identity of her abuser. “I can’t say who it is, but I can say, on the show I did forgive them. It was a very heartfelt moment where I actually forgave that person who hurt me when I was younger.”

She also admitted that it was a family member! “So, it was a family member. I love the person very much and we’re better now. But I did need to heal from that.”

With the show’s filming over, Amy and Dillon believe their marriage is much stronger for it. They previously told PEOPLE that they needed to “learn to communicate” and learn “a whole new level of respect.”

Luckily, they believe the show did its work and they’re now on cloud 9.
