Carrie Fisher, 60, suffered a heart attack on the Friday before Christmas. She was aboard an 11-hour flight from London to Los Angeles, and TMZ reports that it happened just 15 minutes before the plane touched down.

An EMT who happened to be on the flight came up to first class, where Fisher was, and administered some life-saving measures.

Afterward, paramedics administered CPR to Carrie for 15 minutes before they finally got a pulse. She was then rushed to UCLA Medical Center on a ventilator, where she is now hospitalized.

The famous actress has lately been embarking on a book tour with her newly released memoir The Princess Diarist. She is, of course, best known for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise. Like her mother, actress Debbie Reynolds, Carrie had a very successful blockbuster career.

On Christmas, Debbie Reynolds gave a new update on her daughter, saying that she was actually in a stable condition.

Reynolds wrote, “Carrie is in stable condition. If there is a change, we will share it. For all her fans & friends. I thank you for your prayers & good wishes.”

Carrie’s brother Todd previously told TMZ that Carrie was “in the intensive care unit.”

While Carrie Fisher does have one daughter, Billie Lourd, from her previous relationship to Bryan Lourd, her constant companion in the past four years has been her bulldog Gary.

He has his own social media accounts, where he has regularly been giving updates on “mommy.” Fisher has spoken in the past about how Gary helps her with her bipolar diagnosis, saying, "Gary is very devoted to me and that calms me down."

Both daughter Billie Lourd and Gary the bulldog have remained steadfastly by Carrie’s side in the hospital.

This Christmas season has been particularly rife with celebrity calamities, the latest being George Michael’s death on Christmas Day.

We hope the very best for Carrie Fisher.

Update: Carrie Fisher has died at the age of 60. Her daughter Billie Lourd released the following statement: "It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers."
