I wasn't really sure how I felt about the whole “love at first sight” thing, I mean, talk about judging a book by its cover, am I right? But no. I know now that it's so much more than that because the moment I laid eyes on Cailyn Cosmetics I fell head over heels.
Just look at those beauties. The unique packaging and gorgeous bottles got my heart racing.
You could say it was a shallow love affair at first, but it has grown to be so much more. As soon as I found out those pointy lids were not only decorative but also functional—it's a built-in brush!—I was smitten.
First I lathered on some tinted lip balm in apple pink. Normally I'm not into girly, pink shades (I'm more of an orange kind of gal), but this one was different. I didn't feel like a Barbie, I felt like a boss. The balm was moisturizing, easy to apply and had a matte finish! I still don't even understand how something can feel moist and look dry, but it does and it's awesome. The color is bright, buildable and has staying power.
Here are the deets: 3D Smart Film Former technology stabilizes the pigment powder to make the color stay longer, formulated with carnauba wax and beeswax for moisture and healing properties, $19 per bottle, 18 gorgeous colors to choose from
There's even a super cool chart here to show sweet color combos incorporating their line of shimmery balms.
Next I cracked open the Gelux Eyebrow in 04 Cocoa. This waterproof eyebrow gel made me nervous and excited, first date style. I'm in this weird stage with my brows where I want to grow them out and pretend to be Cara Delevigne, but I'm not a supermodel and they're all over the place. I have experimented with eyebrow pencils and shadows, but this gel was new territory.
This stuff did not disappoint. Not only was it easy to apply with the built-in brush, but it blended in easily and stayed put. I imagine having your brows melt off would be a major faux pas, so I put this waterproof formula to work—I went running a few hours after application. I was dripping with sweat when I finished and my brows looked the same as when I first applied the gel. And my love for Cailyn Cosmetics continued to blossom.

Lastly I opened up the Linefix Gel Eyeliner in 01 black. Again, I usually use an eyeliner pencil or liquid liner, so this gel stuff was new to me, but I'm hooked. The true-to-name black gel went on smoothly with the built-in brush and the cat eye shape was almost too easy create. I expected to rock the sexy raccoon look within a few hours, but it stayed put. Even after my run, the liner was still intact. The site says to use makeup remover to get the liner off, but after showering I wiped it off with a towel and I was good to go. As much as I love makeup that stays put while I cry my way through some romcoms, I can't stand it when it's impossible to remove, so needless to say this liner was a winner.
Details: Waterproof for 24 hours, highly pigmented, $21 per bottle, good for sensitive eyes and comes in 13 rich colors (I want all of them)
So I already knew these products looked good both in the package and on my face, but finding out that they are made from all-natural minerals, hypoallergenic, made without harmful chemicals and never tested on animals was like finding out the hottie at the gym is also a volunteer at a children's hospital.
