Despite being one of Hollywood’s longest-standing couples, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are rarely ever seen at big Hollywood events. Although, perhaps that’s just one way they keep their relationship going!
On Sunday night at the Golden Globes, Goldie and Kurt walked the red carpet in matching black ensembles. Goldie accented her look with simple but dramatic makeup and a glitzy choker necklace. Kurt looked dapper with his long silver hair swept away from his face.
Kurt and Goldie have actually never been married, and in the past, the couple have said that this is perhaps one of the secrets to their success.
They’ve been together since 1983 and have one biological child together. However, both parents have unofficially adopted the other’s children from previous relationships. Kate Hudson, Goldie Hawn’s daughter, has said she always viewed Kurt Russell as her dad.
Another secret of the longstanding couple? Date night! The two stopped to talk with Mario Lopez for Extra, who asked if their red carpet appearance for the Golden Globes was a sort of ‘Date Night’ for them.
“It is sorta like date night. You know, we don’t do these very often so…you have to wear a tie,” Kurt joked.
Mario asked why they choose to stay away from glamorous Hollywood events such as these and why they chose this particular night for date night.
“Well Goldie’s been gone 15 years, she’s gone back to work and they wanted her to present tonight so it was like ‘Hey, let’s get Goldie back on!’”
Goldie Hawn is starring in a new comedy with Amy Schumer which will be out in May. The pair also presented the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy (which Ryan Gosling won).
The two blondes did a shtick that involved Goldie Hawn being unable to correctly read the words off the teleprompter. Amy Schumer would correct her, but then asked if she’d brought her glasses. Moments later, Amy asked Kurt if he’d brought her glasses, and he hilariously mouthed back, “She won’t wear them!”
A little humor is necessary in every relationship!
