After dropping an impressive 150 pounds, Mama June was still feeling extremely self-conscious about her double chin.
“My kids joke about my turkey neck or ‘gobble gobble,’” she tells Inside Edition, who was there when the mother of Honey Boo Boo underwent a procedure called “cool sculpting.”
June visited Beverley Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Sheila Nazarian to get the procedure, which kills fat by freezing it.
“Fat freezes at a higher temperature than skin or blood vessels or nerves so this technology gets the temperature down just far [enough] so that the fat dies but nothing else is affected,” Dr. Nazarian explains. She has also had the procedure done on her abdomen to get rid of belly fat.
While Mama June seemed nervous about the procedure, it was surprisingly simple and non-invasive.
The doctor first marked the areas around June’s neck that would be treated and then applied a numbing cream.
“It’s going to get a little cold and that’s it,” the doctor assured Mama June.
The reality star was told not to move for an hour as the doctor applied the treatment to one side of June’s neck and then the other.
While the effects are not immediate—June won’t see results for eight weeks—the procedure is known to have results. It is highly recommended by people who didn’t have any luck with other weight loss methods.
However, the procedure did take a long time to be approved by the FDA for use on the body and some people are still worried about possible side effects it may have such as redness, swelling, and bruising.
June has recently announced that she and her family will be returning to TV soon, but did not give many details on her plans.
“OK for everyone it was asked if we are going to be back on TV, the answer is yes and it will be very soon. It will not be TLC network but it will be announced as we were told with people on Tuesday. I will be able to get out more details soon but we are excited as it will air starting in December. But it will not be Here Comes Honey Boo Boo kind of thing, but it will be reality TV and it will be real and unscripted like we have always ever been. That’s the only kind of TV we believe in and we want you all to see the true side of all of us,” Mama June said.
She is also reported to have joined the reality show Botched, which follows doctors Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif as they correct plastic surgeries that have gone wrong.
