The thigh gap has been around for a while, and while we all know that it's a difficult-to-obtain goal, some of us still punish ourselves for not having it.
We could all sit here and blame the magazine, models, fashion designers, society, or just our culture in general, but the best thing we can do is realize that we have a lot to celebrate about thick thighs.

1. The big booty movement, by default, celebrates thick thighs.
Think about all those ladies with the amazing booties that everyone is talking about: Iggy Azalea, Jenifer Lopez, Kim Kardashian, Megan Trainor. All those ladies have amazing backsides, which means they also have amazing, full thighs. You simply can't have one without the other!
2. Strong is the new skinny.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with skinny girls, and strength can come in all shapes and sizes--however, that being said, women with strong thighs tend to have bigger thighs--it's just the way it works--and honestly, who doesn't want to be strong?
3. You'll outlast all your friends on the dance floor.
This goes hand-in-hand with number two. If your thighs are bigger and stronger, that means that you'll be able to truly dance the night away, reaching for the floor, getting low, and trying out all those dance moves you've seen on TV. It doesn't get any better than that!
4. Women with thick thighs are less likely to have heart disease.
It's science: women who tend to gain weight around their thighs instead of their midsection are less likely to have heart disease and more likely to have a longer life expectancy. If thick thighs means a healthier you, why would you ever hate on that?
5. On the cartoon princess spectrum, you're closer to Jessica Rabbit--the sexiest of them all!
Most Disney princesses, from Jasmine to Belle, are abnormally thin and considered absolutely beautiful. Jessica Rabbit, on the other hand, is curvy with a big chest, backside, and amazing thighs--and she's considered the sexiest of all the cartoon ladies! Just remind yourself of that every time you wish you looked thinner.
6. You'll be happier and healthier if you accept your body the way it is instead of striving for a body type you simply can't have.
Stressing out and hating your body for the way it is will never be helpful. It's one thing to want to improve your health and get fit, but it's another thing entirely when you're constantly hating on yourself and your body for being one way and not the way that magazines tell you you should be. Try loving and accepting your body for way it is, and just treat it well--you won't regret it!
7. You will be warmer in the winter months.
Raise your hand if you have thick thighs and you warm your hands by squeezing them between your thighs? It's an amazing feeling--and it really does work! Thick thighs also means that you'll find yourself reaching for fewer layers throughout the winter months. Win-win!
